Alpha Kappa Lambda was founded on Five Ideals. The Ideals are intended to provide a goal toward which a member guides his life, not only in the fraternity, but in everyday activities. These ideals are the basis for all that AKL stands for. The Five Ideals are: Judeo-Christian Principles, Leadership, Scholarship, Loyalty, and Self Support. These ideals lay the foundation upon which everything else is built Leadership Courageous. Strong. Able. Leadership means being able and prepared to fulfill any and all obligations of life. By continually building real Men of Character through our Kai Membership Development Program, members are easily ready to assume any and all leadership positions life sets before them. Scholarship Wisdom. Research. Knowledge. Your academic career is the principal and foremost reason you attend this university, and academic excellence is wanted and expected from each member. By continually striving for scholastic success, you will enjoy a lasting and meaningful life as a Man of Character and reap rewards well into your future. Loyalty Allegiance. Devotion. Duty. Brotherhood is friendship of the highest calling, and when there is no one else to turn to, your trustworthy and honorable Brothers will always be there for help and encouragement, and bolster you in all your endeavors. In times of need or times of joy, a Brother is truly the best support. Self Support Independent. Competent. Autonomous. Achieving the goals of life can only be realized by you sometimes, and as maturing college men, we should be ready to assume these responsibilities to really become Men of Character. The job market waits for no man, and by proving your individual achievements, you'll have that edge that so many others lack. Judeo-Christian Principles Passion. Alpha Kappa Lambda was founded upon the age-old principles of morality, fellowship, and charity. These principles guide us to help us better become true men of character in all of life's circumstances, from the workplace to our own family lives. Without a defined set of standards, can we really pinpoint and share our ethics and values? Ever since the inception of the National Fraternity of Alpha Kappa Lambda, the men of Alpha Kappa Lambda have sought after these Five Ideals and have based their entire organization upon these principles. Without them, our Fraternity would have crumble apart long ago with all the other organizations who didn't have our solid foundations. The Founding Fathers realized that without strong principles and the ambition to uphold them, the Fraternity would fail. So here we are, ninety years later, and stronger than ever.
