Alpha Kappa Lambda is a group of men at a university or college who have varying interests and ambitions. They
have found that a more meaningful college experience results by sharing those interests and talents with others.
The close friendships which emerge will extend over a lifetime. Identity with such a group can be particularly
beneficial during college years. What is Alpha Kappa Lambda? For some, the Fraternity provides support in achieving
their academic and career goals. Other see a chance to have fun and find lifelong friends. Still others find a place to
call home. It can be as much as you want it to be.

Alpha Kappa Lambda was founded at the University of California at Berkeley by eleven men who recognized the
power of an idea whose idea had come. On April 22, 1914, the "Formation Banquet" was held for the only fraternity
to be founded on the west coast. The next day, the campus newspaper, The Daily Californian, said this about the
new organization, "...of particular novelty is the statement that the ideals of the fraternity are to develop the social,
moral, and religious welfare of its members, and also to foster and encourage among its members Judeo-Christian
principles, service, higher education, and cultural refinement." Ninety years later, this non-secretive fraternity still
makes a difference in thousands of men's lives.
